It's the autumnal equinox and the dog-day cicadas have about given up around here. Tonight, while walking the dogs, I heard just a small chorus, chanting their song of denial.
Are the cicada songs waning in your neighborhood? Two weeks ago, driving through north-central Kentucky, the cicada symphony invaded our car through closed windows, loud radio and blazing air conditioner. Funny thing about cicadas, we rant and rave about the noise and the shell litter. But when they're gone, there's something I miss in the silence.
