Stephen King loves rock and roll. This week he unveils his favorite seven albums of 2007 in his last-page column in Entertainment Weekly.
I agree with most of King's selections, especially Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle. But I can't believe he couldn't round out his list to 10 (or more). King bemoans the quality of this year's releases. No argument. But where's Spoon, Tinariwen, or Ray Wylie Hubbard all with worthy '07 releases? OK, so Ray Wylie's Snake Farm is a 2006 release. Still, it resonated well into 2007.
Mr. King is entitled to his picks and his non-picks. And I won't question him too harshly on finding only seven "best" albums this year. Mainly because I'm a big fan. Also, I don't want to risk the wrath of the Big Rock and Roll Daddy who spawned Cujo, The Stand, and Christine.
