Well, I've kept up with writing (for the most part) but have fallen behind in posting my entries to the November 2010 Poem a Day Challenge. Call this a catch up morning.

Day 4 - Write a containment poem

Jars

Clean and
gleaming in
the morning sun
that streams
through the
kitchen window,
between the
yellow curtains.

Open and waiting
to capture
chili sauce
sweet pickles,
apple butter,
pear honey --
these tastes
of summer.

 

My poem "Tenth Grade Biology Class" listed among April 2010 PAD Challenge Winners

I'm happy and honored to have one of my poems, "Tenth Grade Biology Class," place among the winners in the April 2010 Poem A Day (PAD) Challenge held by Robert Brewer's Poetic Asides Blog. 

Congratulations to the poets of the other 49 poems recognized in the April 2010 PAD Challenge and to Walt Wojtanik, named the April 2010 PAD Poet Laureate.

Robert holds two great PAD challenges each year -- in November and April. Each day, he provides a prompt. On the day I wrote "Tenth Grade Biology Class" the prompt called for participants to write a science poem.

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite writers, Jim Harrison, born December 11, 1937.
